"I could not stop working out ways and means to enter into communication with the apes." (795)
Imagine going to a new world and discovering a bunch of highly educated apes who are in charge of humans. I am not sure how I would react, but I would most likely be pretty frightened of them. The Apes capture the humans and take them to zoos and it seems like the traditional roles between human and animals have been reversed. We can learn a lot from Planet of the Apes. The humans from earth had to find a new way to communicate with the apes. On earth, they were in charge of the animals "I resolved to never lose my temper again but to seek patiently and ceaselessly every opportunity  to display my mental faculties." (795) In a new situation, it is easy to get frustrated when things aren't going your way. After reading through Planet of the Apes, it made me think about how animals feel when we put them into zoos or research labs. Being taken away from their homes simply for the entertainment of humans. When going to the zoo as a child, I never thought about how trapped those poor animals were. In the zoo, animals have no freedom to roam around like God intended them to. They are trapped and put on display for our enjoyment. The zoo can be parallel to the enslavement of blacks. Just like animals weren't made for the zoo, African Americans were not made for white men.
and told them exactly what to do. However on this new planet, the apes were in charge and could tell the humans what to do.

"Up until then I had so many ways out, and now I no longer had one." (832)
Imagine being taken away from everything you know. You can no longer see your family, friends, or anybody you once knew. You are taken to a place where you are treated like an outsider and with no respect. This would be hard for anyone and I sympathize with animals who are forced to live like this on a regular basis. "Incidentally, among human beings people all too often are deceived by freedom."(832) What does it mean to be truly free? Freedom can mean different things to different people and animals. To animals, freedom can mean roaming around the wild and living life exactly how they "But according to Hagenbeck, apes belong at the crate wall." (832) No animal deserves to be secluded or kept in a small space. This is not a healthy way for any animal to live. An animal who spends their life in a zoo, reminds of a man who is sentenced to life in solitary confinement. No contact with your loved ones or the freedom to do things when you want to. After taking this class, I will think twice when asked to go to an animal exhibit.
decide to. They cannot do this when they are trapped in cages all day.
